Winter closures have shrunk from months to weeks, and the pass now shuts in January or February rather than November, so each row's closing date can fall in the following calendar year.
Notes and sources for each year
- 2026. The pass stayed open past 28 February 2026 for the first time. Civilian and tourist traffic from mid-April; two-way by June. Motorcycles are not named in any source. tribuneindia.com greaterkashmir.com discoverwithdheeraj.com
- 2025. Reopened after 32 days. The date civilians or motorcycles were first allowed was not found. One source says it stayed open through the following winter; another says it shut after 28 February 2026. greaterkashmir.com kashmirlife.net tribuneindia.com discoverwithdheeraj.com
