Rules for motorcycles
Both highways through the tiger reserve close overnight to private vehicles. A few buses and emergency vehicles are let through.

Vehicles from outside the district book a free pass online. Daily numbers are capped. Travel guides say two-wheelers need it too; no official page says so.

Outside vehicles were already barred from riding down. For summer 2026 the collector barred them both ways; a hotel blog says motorcycles are included. Use Gudalur.

Motorcycles may not use the main carriageway. Riders take the toll-free service road beside it, or the old Mysuru road where that breaks.
