The Idukki district collector shuts the Gap Road at night, or fully after a slide, whenever a rain alert is in force. Parking on it is banned too.

In November 2023 the collector barred travel from 7 pm to 6 am between Udumbanchola and Cheriyar. Expect the same after fresh slides.
